Any brainy/electrician type people?

I have a small predicament I would like to get sorted.

I do a fair bit of shooting, and have a YouTube channel that I share my vids on. I mainly shoot rats at night using night vision.

The unit I have has been playing up lately, and seeing as it's out of warranty I opened it up to find this.

To give a context of scale, the wires are about 3 inches long, and have the white plugs on each end.

I rung up the company, who have basically said they will not send me the wires alone, I have to send the unit in to them and they will repair at their normal rate of..............£150.

Yup, £150 for 4 three inch wires and two little white plugs. I am kinda feeling a bit extorted here.

Is it possible to either get a new plug, or repair the single wire that has popped out?

Don't worry, I shall be putting a review on YouTube for my 3000 subscribers to watch, lol.

Thanks.

Dude, sorry but PMSL.

You can repair that yourself with a bit of solder and a soldering iron.

Failing that go to maplin and you can buy those plugs for like £1.

That's good to know. Maybe just a trip to napkins then to see what I can do.

Didn't think I could solder it as the wire is under a millimetre thick, it's proper tiny, lol.

Just strip it back a touch and push it in. I promise you that will solder in just fine. Just be careful not to melt the plastic.

Even if you do it's no big deal. It just looks like a mini molex plug. Should be pretty painless to replace.

If you don't feel comfortable doing it, any electrician should be able to do that for you within five mins for some petty beer money.

It is mental what some places try and charge people, as mentioned easy peasy to solder.

Lol used to shoot rats when at school, and tramps, although they were rather an easy target.

Cheers sully, if the maplins trip doesn't yield any results I will drop you a PM.

Thanks for the offers guys and yeah, I shoot most things, but only film the rats. Had about 1.3 million views so far on just the rat vids.

It's amazing the crap people watch on YouTube. Lol.

Success, managed to wiggle the pin out of the connector, re crimped the wire, slid it back in and hey presto, works like it should.

If the people who offered suggestions send their invoices to me, I shall ensure I deal with each appropriately:-)

Thanks for the offers and advice everyone, and sadly I cannot help with the list above.
