Head/tail light; to tint or not to tint

Hello All, first off I want to thank everyone for advise and suggestions!
Now that I have completed performance mods to my 2016 M235ix I am considering head/tail light tinting. My goal is to "black-out" my sapphire black M235ix. What do you think about tinting head/tail lights? My brother a porsche purist thinks it will be too "Vato" and need a plastic dash-board Jesus OK, call me what-ever but I think it will look cool at the risk of reducing headlight quality. Whaddya think?

BTW; with Dinan performance mods it is possible to approach 200 mph (193 to be exact), GoPro post pending

Don't do it. No matter what the car, it looks cheap and tacky. Plus it's unsafe and illegal.

Agree...those lights have been carefully designed for a certain light output so other folks can see you in a variety of conditions, as well as you being able to see at night. Lots of other stuff you can do to mod your car for personal enjoyment, but tinting lights is high risk for no reward, as it just makes you look like a low-information kid. If you're a Medic, this should make sense to you...you're just potentially creating more patients.

Have you done Turner's M4 Lower Control Arm swap yet? Much more worthwhile way to mod a 2!

Lightly on the tail lights would be as far as I would go. Never on headlights. On the headlights most I would do is get someone to open them up and black out everything.

I'd pass purely because of the safety issue, unless you enjoy getting rear ended because drivers behind you can't tell if those are brake lights or just the normal lights.

I curse every time I am behind someone with blacked out tail-lights. Those lights have a purpose, which is to let the person behind see your car!
As for headlights, why spend all that money just so that your car wears the equivalent of sunglasses at night?

Does the LCA swap work on X Drive vehicles? I remember reading that the suspension setup was different from the RWD model.

Whoops! You're right...I didn't notice that about the OP's car until you correctly pointed that out! Well, in any event, any other mod would be better than making a car harder to see at night/in the rain (especially a black one!) or decreasing forward vision. I can just foresee the senior citizen with deteriorating vision who didn't see the tinted brake lights well enough in time one night...

Maybe light tinting on your taillights. Smoking your headlights is just plain degeneracy that should be left at vw vortex or your local Evo forums.

Is there a way to run high output bulbs to compensate, so the net output is 'normal' but with the smoked look in daytime?

Thanks I was just making sure. I thought I was wrong and could've added more fun to my car.

One of the ugliest things you can do to a car.

Maybe get some curb feelers to go with the tint on the lights. Oh and some neon lights underneath. Yeah, that's the ticket. Sorry, couldn't resist.

He's got a 190mph M235i and he's posted on this forum four times?

Riiiiiight. And my other car is a Veyron that I drive every day to work, my BFF is Mark Cuban (We have a weekly H-O-R-S-E game. I usually let him win.), ... and, oh yeah, and I'm a porn star on the side.

I'd pass on the tinting. The head/tail lights give the car a contrast in color. Plus you'll get pulled over in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the reply’s and I have since parted with the 3M film, big shout-out to the “LTC”; I did not realize vehicle speed was equated to number of posts, wow BFF Mark Cuban and porn-star… reach for the stars or rather “Aim High”, correct phrase right??

Thanks! that makes sense; ER MD, former Army 18D, in retrospect I realize how moronic my "great idea" was, now I need to find a home for the dingle berries and dash-board Jesus.

How much would the lower control arm swap cost installed and the proverbial question - extended warranty effected?.?.

Thank you for your service!

I have to apologize and withdraw that LCA recommendation. As noted earlier, I overlooked that you had XDrive, and the LCAs are not compatible with that set-up...RWD only. I haven't kept up with what you can do to a XDrive vehicle, but a visit to Turner Motorsports site or a call might be rewarding!

Point taken. It's just that everything about your profile and post, from the lack of posts and cultural bragadocio to your, um, 'writing style' and willingness to post a GoPro vid of you doing a speed that is all but scientifically impossible (and if it's possible, damned unsafe) in a 2 Series, points to classic troll behavior.

(Though if you served, I'll mirror Sportstick : thank you.)

Finally ... please don't post that video. You will be MAJORLY flamed if you do. How do I know? Someone else did here.
