intercooler, for FBO stock turbos 7" or 5"

Bout that time as Black Friday deals are showing up. Full bolt on N54 with stock turbos, what say is the better size to go with. I dont plan on upgrading to larger turbos. My goal is a custom tune on pump 93 gas. Im lacking an intercooler and may as well install it while Ive got my car in the air doing my pressure plate.

Just go 7", it'll outperform the 5" and takes an extra 10 minutes to install. The pro's outweigh the cons.

I went with VRSF's 7 inch as my first upgrade. I only had to cut off a really small amount of shroud.
I'm so glad that I went 7 in the beginning, because since then I've added on a bunch of other stuff and have been happily boosting 21psi.

Another vote for the VRSF 7" Buy once, and be done.

Bought the 5" Stepped. It's last on my list for FBO, I'm only autocrossing occasionally and I'm not going to replace my turbos anytime soon. Plus, I hear the difference if you're only going for 400hp, it's negligible.

The 7" HD is an incredibly dense core (similar to garrett) in comparison to the regular 7". Single/multiple gear pulls result in lower intake temps at regular cruising temps. Here's a 2-4 gear pull, 91 degree start, 100 degree finish. 9 degree rise over 3 gears.

I'd go for at least 6" or 7". I've seen some logs with IAT rising with 5" FMICs after multiple runs.

ill also add a plus to the VRSF 7". a little extra cutting of the front shroud (which you can do waiting for delivery since your car is up already ) and then just throw it in like normal.

you never know what the future holds. one and done as they say.

not all intercoolers are created equal. get a reputable brand.

my wagner evo 1 perf is great can't see the need for anything more on stock turbos. best part is it's direct bolt in. took me about 15- 20mins to install in my garage on stands.

Wagner is also double the price of the VRSF.. But if you got it to spend, for the same results, sure why not..

maybe it's a little different here in Australia. to get them both landed the vsrf is a little cheaper. factor in labour costs to Install the vsrf and you're at about the same money.

wagner actually fits properly with no cutting required using stock connectors.
