oil burning? your opinions are appreciated
im wondering if u guys think my cars burning oil too much. i understand cars burn a lil oil.. but the oil gauge was at the max level in september when i got the car from a small dealerahip. now its half way between the min and max level. and ive noticed an oily black soot all over the trunk lid near the license plate that collects pretty quickly (in the pic its about a week since i washed it)
is this normal? its a 2011 335xi. n55 |

How many miles have you driven since September?
Also, with these motors, its more likely that its an oil leak, not burning oil. Check the oil pan, oil filter housing gasket, and valve cover gasket. The black stuff on your trunk is probably soot from the DI system. |
