Upgrading Turbos, need tuning option advice (currently on Cobb PTF)
Hello all,
So I'm in the lucky position of being able to upgrade my 2008 E90 335i with the addition of the Pure Stage 2 turbos (hi-flow/2" inlets) as well as inlets/outlets. This will compliment the existing upgrades: kitty free DP 5" FMIC, Forge DVs Cobb charge pipe Fuel-It Stage 2 LPFP Cobb AP running an e50 PTF tune. My issue is this: It appears from my forum browsing that to get the good power out of the Pure stg2, you need to run 25+psi of boost(looks like the serious power is around 28psi but I don't have LSD so I don't think that's quite necessary just yet). I believe the stock MAP sensor can only report up to like 21-22psi. So I can upgrade the MAP sensor to the 3.5bar but it's my understanding that the Cobb tune can only really address up to 22-23psi? So I believe my options are, add a JB4 and use the Cobb for BEF so I can continue to run e50 (which I really like other than having to mix at the pump), or I could go straight JB4 but I think that still has the limitations on boost due to the Map sensor, or I could go JB4/MHD but I don't have an Android phone.. Can I get some opinions about the pros/cons of these options and/or corrections of my incorrect information if anything above is wrong? Thanks! |

Thanks for the response, I am leaning towards replacing my PTF/Cobb tune with JB4 and a cheap Android tablet for MHD. I'm still wondering if it's worth it to replace the MAP sensor now or wait until I can upgrade my fuel system since it appears that the Fuel-It Stage 2 LPFP most likely won't support 25psi+.. Without an LSD it's already like driving on ice skates anyways..
