best mods for 335is?

Hello!! I have a 2013 CPO 335is and was wondering what you guys think the best mods for performance would be? I was worried about the BMS DCI air intakes sounding kinda silly with that whole sound they make so I'd like some opinions on that and I heard jb4 causes alotta headaches which I had with my 335xi sedan and dont want anymore. How is the cobb tune? Less problems? Is it easy to put in and out because I dont wanna lose my warranty. Let a bro know!!

Really depends on what you want. BMS DCI provides some gains, doesn't sound crazy though. Maybe you're thinking about BOVs? MHD > Cobb if you want a tune, JB4 is another option but it's more expensive and harder to install. Get a bigger intercooler if you start running a more aggressive tune.

If you are looking for a no fuss tune, just go with MHD and slap on something. They make Dinan for people who have money and don't REALLY care, but do 'care'.

Charge pipe, BOV/diverters (turbosmart diverters will sound stock) of your choice, intake (BMS only makes sound above about 3/4 throttle), Oil catch can, upgraded PCV valve, FMIC, and MHD Stage1+ are pretty much all a 335iS needs IMO, engine wise. All of the above except for the FMIC, depending on your wrenching skill, are easy enough to revert back to stock if you need to take your car in for warranty service.

Same as a normal 335i with n54. The IS basically is identical engine wise but with a lame tune. Do first do a JB4 G5 or MHD tune, catless DP, charge pipe with bov or diverters, 7"fmic, inlets, outlets, then you move to stage 2 turbos and keep going.

I have a JB4 btw and have had a jb of some type for i years. No headaches at all and i have NOT heard it makes any from anyone who uses one. I have heard dealers and people scared make comments like this out of ignorance or because they are required to as bmw personnel.

^^"The IS basically is identical engine wise but with a lame tune" and a dual clutch transmission and the looks of LCI..

p.s DCT does not like jb4 without a flash..

I have JB4 stacked with E85 MHD BEF. The BEF is a must with DCT and E85. Love the way my car drives after the BEF.

I would say go straight for inlets and skip DCI. Better WGDC and more power proven on the dyno.

Also I have had zero headaches with JB4 on my last two cars. I like the extra features and ease of switching boost levels.

I wouldn't recommend a JB4 to anyone just starting out modding right now. MHD is more than adequate by itself for the vast majority. Follow that with an intercooler -- 5" will do unless perhaps you plan on tracking -- then downpipes, and DCIs (why not, cheap and easy, and at least makes the engine bay look a bit more badass). Let that stew. Get a custom MHD tune. Then upgrade the LPFP to run an E85 mix, and add inlets and outlets. Profit.

I'd say mhd only because of the dct. Otherwise I prefer jb4. I use both.

Either way you go, COBB or MHD, the results of power output will be the same. So pick your choice .

Most of my 335is cars run much more torque than a JB4 + BEF setup and with lower dutycyle

Thanks for all the replies. I am thinking of going with the cobb as i heard it is safer but I heard not as much gains as a jb4 can anyone confirm this? I plan on getting in a c63s coupe in a little while so I don't want to mod this one too crazy but I do plan to keep it and not sell it. The e92 is just too special.

Haha i know it is the same thing mate!! I have worked on bimmers for quite a while. I must say some people take it to the next level haha! I really miss the ///M but I'm hoping with some tunes this one will be just as fun.
