Anyone have experience shipping wheels/tires?

I'm amazed at the range of quotes I've been given. Between custom boxes and ridiculous rates, it seems like local deals are the only way to go. If anyone has any concrete info on how to ship some tires out of state, please post up or send me a PM.

Thanks!

I have shipped wheels plenty of times. First thing I do is wrap the tire with plastic wrap, to give that tape something to stick to, then I bubble wrap the face and the put heavy cardboard on top and then use a bunch of heavy duty shipping tape to cover all the cardboard. Repeat on the other side and then for the other wheels. I sent a set of 17 inch wheels from DC area to bay area CA and it was a little over $200 to ship Fed Ex. PM you email or # and I will send you pics of the finished product. I have never had a problem with the wheels being damaged.

These days, shipping ground, you are going to pay $100 per wheel. It's ridiculous, but that's what it is. If you sell, be aware if you include shipping. Each wheel is 50lbs apiece.
