Tint question - Anyone cover the dot matrix with vinyl?
Title says it all. Getting tints done and wondering if anyone has got black vinyl installed over the dot matrix or if they just live with the light color they create? I have seen some pictures searching here that look like it isn't a problem and seen some pics that show the dot matrix a bit. Getting 5% Llumar Ceramic CTX all around and 50% front windshield.

I would think getting the vinyl perfect would be much harder and more prone to bothering your OCD than any slight irregularities with the tint alone. A good shop it should be pretty minimal.

Congrats on having illegal tint installed on your car. Good luck with all that.

WOW! That is dark
I also have tinted with the same CTX Tint but just 50% all around and nothing on the front windshield. I have the red interior and I just love the way that the car does not look like a storm trooper being that the exterior paint is white.
. My installer tried to talk me into a darker tint 30% but I wanted it to look almost something the factory would have done -- Goal Accomplished. . . I must be old. 5% is too dark for me but it all makes the world go round. . I am very happy with the CTX -- Good choice. |

I was reading of people getting 35% even 20% on the windshield of their cars, that's crazy. 50% doesn't seem bad from what I have seen. |

Just out of curiosity, does the m240i come with standard 'sun protection/privacy glass' option? I didn't order it yet the rear windows are noticeably darker than the front ones

That's a good question. I haven't looked but someone mentioned it seemed like the back windows are a little tinted but I never even looked I just said "Maybe" since I am going 5% I didn't have a care to look. I can check it out in a bit if I can step out of work for a second.

Well I didn't get a chance to check and forgot to check after work. I already tinted my windows so can't answer that anymore.
Ended up going with 5% all around, 5% front tint strip, and 50% windshield. No vinyl and the only place that you can tell the dot matrix is there is some small sections on the windows. The front and back windshields are pretty much perfect. My installer did a very good job so far, once it cures I think the rest of the bubbles on the dot matrix should be gone. |

I have the same ctx tint. 5% rear, 18% sides and 55% windshield. I love it and so far no issues with cops. I've even had them behind me at a stop light and all windows closed. Guess I've been lucky so far. No issues with the dot matrix at all. Tinting the windshield was the best part. i was skeptical at first, but I'm really glad that I did it.

Honestly, I don't even notice it anymore. I'm too busy admiring how beautiful the car is.

I have clear ones now and carbon fiber mirror caps. My neighborhood isn't well lit. I need the reflection lol.
