Bonnet/Hood Panel Gap

Is it me or is the panel gap inconsistent where it goes above the grills?

It seems this way on some of the released photos.

Wait for a production car( Auto Show), this is a pre-production test car, and they aren't prefect complete builds.

Strong chance not closed properly, the amount time got caught by this with my F10 and my wife X3, you really need to stand back and check and always one side not completely down on full lock, even in magazine journalist get caught.
Any way I hope this is the reason behind the gap.

I wondered this as well but looking at where it joins the wing/fender it looks aligned there!

Here's what I'm seeing - it looks like the passenger-side kidney grill is a little lower than the driver's side. The hood looks even over the headlights and, like you said, with the fenders.

However, if you look at the bottom of the kidney grills, it looks like the one on the left is a little lower than the one on the right. Pre- or Post-production, adjusting the kidney grill should be an easy fix since those typically just snap in. Though, with the active grill, it may be different.(?)

It's a freakin' pre-production car photographed in the wild, what do you expect?

Production cars will have the same production-quality gaps we have long experienced with BMWs.

Seriously?

The camera isn't perfectly perpendicular to the the centerline of the car. The Kidney surrounds are very sculptural in design which makes them hard to photograph well.

If this was the case then you would see it with your eyes as well and that wouldn't look good would it. Every time you looked at the front slightly off angle it would look bad. If this IS the case then it is a bad design feature.

Looking at the photo again it does look like the passenger grill is maybe not seated correctly and looks 'pushed in' where it meets the headlight

It's exaggerated on this particular mule...keyword MULE. It's clearly been working hard, the bonnet itself is not aligned intentionally. I can see parts of test equipment peeking out in a few places and I would wager it's equipped with a feature that has not yet been disclosed. Staring at a single image with shadows, angles, etc to pick out a perceived "flaw" isn't the same as looking at it in person.

This is the best I've found so far that best represents the shape of the kidney surrounds, but it's still unable to show all the detailing.
