Any way to have both engine temperature AND odometer display at the same time??

The lack of data in the instrument cluster is driving me nuts on my M2. I want a simple engine temperature gauge so I can tell when the car is warmed up and "good to go" for higher RPM etc., but I don't want that to be the ONLY thing displayed as a result!

As far as I can figure out, I have to select the engine temperature reading with the stalk buttons, and then it only shows a colorful bar and leaves the rest of the LCD screen blank, including no odometer readout! WTF BMW. What a bad joke.

I'm hoping there is some way with coding to add more information to the screen at all times. Can any of the knowledgeable folks on here confirm?

Thanks in advance.

Excerpt from the M2 Technical Training, page 64:

See also here for info from the M2 Manual.

To be brief: we're toast.

3 options (that will cost you some cash) if you want to know the exact temps + allowing you to let your OBC show you the data you'd like to see:

1. Get the P3 Gauge:

2. Get the AWRON Gauge:

3. Get the M2 M Performance steering wheel with race display (part # 32 30 2 413 015) + open-pore CF cover for steering wheel (part # 32 30 2 413 480):

Odometer was just an example for simplicity of explanation... I want some damn "engine is warmed up" indicator that doesn't take over the entire display!

Thanks. But still holding out for a stock solution, and that wheel is definitely not for me. Has anyone tried enabling the "added instrument display info" options via coding that I've seen some references to?

The split screen option is your best bet. It doesn't take up any real state really (it has the split screen function for a reason) and provides somewhat good info.

Most expensive option: buy another car.

This, the horrible manual shifter feel, and the droney monotone exhaust put this option high in my list of solutions.

You'd probably want to focus more on the oil temp rather than engine temp as engine temps can warm up quicker but reaching the optimum oil temp is ideal for romping.

In this case, buy a P3 gauge. $500 and you don't lose the middle main vent like the AWRON.
