You can use tape or screws, but drilling ally plates isn't fun.
Mine are kept on with EDM style reg plate holders.

I use screws on fronts and plastic frame on rear plate. Tape didn't work for me.

I've used 3M velcro pads, means you can take them off when you clean the car

I have used Velcro on my plates for years. two reasons 1) i find the pads don’t hold very well 2) I have a personalised plate that is spaced wrong so with Velcro i can swap between two plates

I use that really wide stuff but from a local hardware store, one tip I would say is Velcro right to the edge of the plate otherwise the front one tends to bend strait.

Also if you put it on wonky really easy to adjust, although be careful with pressed plates as this Velcro is VERY strong and you can bend the plate!!

This was an old trick i picked up in my younger car crusing days! had an E36 that had black and silver pressed plates, used to get pulled all the time with those. Didnt help that i was 19 and looked 12 driving around in a moded 325i

Always keep a spare set of legal plates in the boot just in case now

I take it you didn't get the strong 3M dual lock? As with that, both sides are the same.

It really doesnt matter!

one thing i will say is if you are using velcro for two sets of plates use a difrent side of the velcro for the front plates and back. that way you wont end up with extra of one kind.

So you will have 2x strips with hooks for the rear plates and 1x strip that softer for the car and then 1x strip with hooks for the car at the front and 2x strips that are softer for the front paltes.

Make sence?
