Illuminated M Performance "Pro" Gearshift

Just found out about this and couldn't find anything about it online so I thought I'd post about it here.

My M Performance parts arrived (MPE, Grilles, spoiler and mirrors), diffuser should arrive in the next couple of weeks. I think I'll be getting the LCD steering wheel and this carbon fiber gear shift and hand brake

The designers could have put more effort into that shift knob. It looks way too Pep Boys.

Looks like the cf used is of the glossy variety...will clash with the matte look of the m2.

I better order some Alcantara since it's "a delight to touch".

The last picture (which references the M2) mentions open-pore CF.

Gonna have to agree that looks a bit pep boy schucks ish. Still a fan of the original m performance shift knob. The new one has too much carbon on it and clashes with the m2 interior. Gonna be opting for the Original

I actually asked and was told it will match the interior of the M2. I guess they have versions for the M2 and the M3/4, this is not an M2 with the red interior and extra buttons next to the gear.

Shouldn't it be the "Illuminated Amateur" gearshift? I mean, how often do you find yourself driving at night, you completely forget the gearshift pattern, and you think to yourself "If only that stupid shift map were illuminated to help me remember when i'm here in the dark."

...and dont get me started on "Plastic galvanized pearl lustre chrome." It's plastic folks. Just good old fashioned plastic.

Whomever dreamed this shift lever up and then punted it to the genius marketing team needs to quit treating us like morons. Just advertise it as a stylish M-branded accessory and stop thinking you can sell us on the high performance benefits.

You are absolutely correct and I agree with you about it just being plastic and just looking different. Best part is that I think everyone on this forum would agree that BMW should do what you said and stop treating us like "morons" because they just want to sell us these parts by marketing them like this; But the reality is, that even if this whole forum agreed on that statement, I would bet you that at least 50% of those same people would be fished into buying this because of the marketing lol. It's just the world we live in man

I Bought the REAL M Performance shifter as one of my first mods, it was only available for the f23 at the time so it had white stitching I had to color it blue...

Anyone thinking of upgrading that actually knows where the gears are located LMAO, I highly recommend the original ///M performance shift knob (Pictured below) ...

The all metal one shown in a previous post, I don't think is an BMW OEM part, But I had it on my e92 M3 and Its great...Its a 3rd the price of what I have now ($88.00 from ama**n.com , and its the heaviest I've felt which of all knobs mentioned improves throw & feel the most...

Again, my Current is a blend of look and feel and couldn't recommend it more (Blue stitching of course)Yes its dry carbon...Purchased from ECS... around $300

"Illuminated: knob in OP is hideous IMO, theve got to be kidding bringing that "thing" to market...Some of these ///M parts are getting out of hand.

After a year long partnership between BMW and AutoZone, the 'Pro' gearshift lever knob is now available for the race car driver as well as the average joe. 0.1 sec faster 0-60 times.

Is the knob as a stand-alone available or do you need to buy the boot/knob combo?
