Any performance mod you put on your car can potentially void the warranty of the other parts it can affect on your car... I.E. if you put on catless downpipes and you blow a turbo the dealership will blame the downpipes and not cover the turbos...

Dinan does not void the factory warranty, it works in conjunction with it. They basically tag team each other on repairs if its deemed that the failed part was caused by a Dinan mod. Either way, you are covered with a Dinan mod.

^^^ this statement is not true. Dinan warranty is a warranty with Dinan only and NOT associated with BMW in any way. You need to make a warranty claim through Dinan to have them cover anything.

Any modifications will not completely void your warranty, but will void warranty only on parts associated with your modification.
If you get Dinan, though, all associated parts are covered under the Dinan warranty. Hope that clears things up.

Read and learn. Dealers by law can't void a warranty unless that modification directly contributed to the failure of the part warrantied. If you have lowering springs and your engine blows, your warranty can't be voided but if you have any tuning/chip modificaitons and your engine blows, they can void your warranty. |

But yes, as said, a tune can't void your entire warranty, like A/C or whatever, but don't let that fool you into thinking that the dealership won't make up some reason why the mod caused the problem. Engine? Tune caused it, Turbos? Tune caused it. Transmission? Rear End? Too much power, tune caused it. If you don't have a mod friendly dealership, you're going to go through hell with a tune. The important thing is that most tunes can be removed, so they wouldn't even know. However, it would be frowned upon by most people here if you blew up your car because of a tune and yanked it off and said it happened naturally. We all pay a price for these warranties. Don't abuse them. |
