Is the 2018 M2 getting the S55?

I'm still on a M2 waiting list and was wondering if the 2018 M2 will get the S55? I'm willing to wait for summer of 2017.

All we know for sure is that 2018 will bring LED tails and a standard backup camera (finally).

There are three camps..

1) M2 will get the S55, but only in a significantly more expensive CS version
2) The base M2 will get the S55 (most of these people don't have an M2 yet)
3) No M2 will get the S55 (most of these people already have an M2)

Pick your poison..

I'm positive it's getting the S55. The only thing I'm not sure about is if an M2 forum has any threads about this with a gazillion views/replies on the first page

Sorry for not talking about S55 wether or not, but wat ClothedSeats stated above about the MY18 getting tail leds.

I know what leds are but don't you think the current 16/17 M2 tail light clusters are more than awesome and bright red? Very classy/sporty modern looking when turned on at night.

What could be really different with leds..

Cheers

Audi are making a big deal about their OLED rear lights on the latest models.

Who cares as long as they turn red when you apply the brakes

LEDs illuminate much faster than incandescent bulbs which makes them safer brake lights. It has been shown that even LED turn signals get your attention more than regular bulbs.
I changed all my brake and turn signals to LED.

When's the last time you said to yourself "You know, my incadescent brakes lights aren't turning on fast enough"?

And that microsecond of faster actuation can still be absorbed fully by a dim witted spoon behind you who has a terrible reaction time.

I saw a Honda Accord with full LED next to a F80 M3 that didn't have LED brake lights. I was embarrassed to be a BMW owner at the moment. non-LED equipped cars look so darn dated now days.

A non-LED equipped BMW is the least of its owner's worries.

I'm in the fourth camp...wait until something official comes out. As of right now, it's all speculation and hype.

The 2020 M2 will have a 5.0 liter twin turbo V8 from the M5.

You heard it on Bimmerpost first! Then bmwblog reports it and then Bimmerpost report the bmwblog report and the spiral continues.

The M2 is getting the same LCI changes that it shares with the 2 series. The 2 series will definitely be getting LED headlights an as option,so they will also be available on the M2.

Oh, I forgot, it will also be self driven without a steering wheel or pedals. Siri's voice will ask you where you want to go.
Apparently you'll get there very quickly with the 900 HP engine.

That depends on whether the headlights will remain the same shape to fit with the current M bumper. The E46 and E92 M3s didn't get the LCI headlights for this reason.
