M2 Wheel has swirls on the paint
Hi Guys:
Since M2 wheel comes with black paint, I just realized there has lots swirl after the first wash since the new car delivery. Is that easy to have swirl on that paint? I really want to get them out but looking for the solution as well. |

My F80 wheels had swirls on them on delivery day and they just get worse, even with careful cleaning. The F87 was delivered without swirls on the wheels but I expect to get swirls on these too. I wonder if quartz coating would help keep them from getting "ugly"?

Most of the swirls are under the paint from the machining and depends on how the light hits them.

I've noticed this as well, i try to use as little contact as possible when washing them, thankfully mine are Opti-coated which helps a lot but i still just use a microfiber mitt to wash them and then dry using a hand held blower.

The key is super careful cleaning, avoid brushes etc. Best insurance is one of the coatings is the way to go. I am going with the Gyeon coating for wheels for this very reason.

I upgraded to platinum silver CI-R's today. Not quite as awesome as the FI-R but a bit easier on the wallet.

I coated my wheels with Pearl Nano HD. Fortunately, I did this prior to any damage. I didn't do the barrels as this would have required more time and $, but the faces and lips are now protected with ceramic coating. At least I don't have to treat my wheels with chemicals to remove grime and brake dust. It practically shoots off with a pressure washer alone. They clean up easily. Time will tell how it holds up. Another plus is the black is deeper and the shine is fantastic... like a just polished look.
A side note; we all want the brake dust to be removed between washes but this will only exacerbate the scratching, coating or otherwise. It's just another reason to wash our cars routinely and accept brake dust for what it is... it happens. Just my .02 |
