Have the ability to change to the M3 Jahre - thoughts?
My dealer let me know that he can get me into a M3 Jahre (at MSRP) if I want. My M2 is due in shortly (two weeks) - they of course are fine with me not taking delivery of the M2.
If you don't know, the M3 Jahre is 1 of 500 made (less than 150 in the states) in a very cool blue color known as Macao Blue. It costs about $4k more than a comparable M3 (so you pay $4K for the grill, seats, trim, and paint). I'm somewhat considering this....because as much as I want a smaller car, I'm worried that having two 4 seat two door cars, might not be the smartest thing - and maybe I should have a slightly bigger daily driver? Of course neither car comes with a sunroof - if I could get that, my decision would be done. I'm leaning heavily towards just sticking with the M2...

The seats on the 30 jahre edition are fugly! Wouldn´t buy it personally. If you're after lower depreciation, get the M2.

+1, you ordered the M2 for a reason. The 30 year edition isn't special and won't hold value, don't buy it for that. It's just a convenient way to get that color and setup if you love it as it comes.

Ask this in the M3/4 forums. The F8Xs are fabulous cars, as is the M2. The M3 will get you more power, faster acceleration, great tech goodies (HUD and ability to easily tweak all performance settings rocks), highly upgraded interior, at least as good track performance - probably better because of ZCP, and great exclusivity with the special edition.
Do you want an awesome bar-bones M or a unique, tricked out gorilla in a tux for an extra 30k? |

I think the F80 is more special than the M2, but I could make a case for either car.

Totally forgot to update the thread!
Ultimately, if I want an M3, I'm going to get a Tanzanite Blue with sunroof. And truth be told, I probably should have done that as it looks like BMW will not do a pull ahead on my lease (anyone want a 650GC xi for 6 months?) and I could have controlled the delivery timing a bit better. But/and..I'm looking forward to the M2. Plan on keeping it for a while and then probably/maybe, late next year getting a 911.

It's just a marketing car....nothing special in my opinion.
