335i brakes on a 328xiT

Plug and play, yes? Ground thru a few pages of the F30 M brake swap on the susp/brake forum, and that doesn't look like the route I want to take.

Why the upgrade? Mountain roads. And I have 18s and 19s, so the stock 328 hardware looks a little ... undernourished? And, I'm due for a brake overhaul ( 140,000km) , and 335 bits are easily available.

Feedback?

You will need new rotors, pads and calipers. Not sure what else though.. I'm sure others will chime in.

i believe its just new rotors pads calipers and carriers. I am doing this upgrade at all. you can use 335i ones. doesn't have to be xi. everything should bolt up. got my calipers for about 200 for the full set shipped.

AWD, E91 and E93 come with the bigger parking brake drums already, so 335i rotors are direct bolt on with no loss of functionality.

Would a 335 size work on an e90 for the front and rears?

Yes 335i fronts are a direct swap for all E9x, so are F30 front brakes. Theres been lots of threads on this already.

Here's my thread on it.. Direct bolt on front and rear on the 328xit

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1268443

edit: I noticed you replied to that thread! I'm now about 8k miles into the swap with R1 Concepts Rotors (slotted, not drilled) and their ceramic pad and can say that they're pretty good. Really grabby brakes when cold/humid (rainy), but after a few stops they normalize. My crazy mind now wants the f30 brakes since they just look cooler! I drive a super twisty canyon road and farm roads every day and the upgrade is so much better than the old brakes. No more brake dust either
