Mirror Tap for Escort MAX 360

Greetings, for those who want to find a good DIY for installing a radar on your M5 this link was perfect -

http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=998321

Everything was right on, except for the Blendmount part for my M5 -

Blendmount Beltronics / Escort Radar Detector Mount (Escort MAX) for BMW. Mount. (model: BMX-2017)

MirrorTap MTX Series Radar Detector Power Cord With 2 Amp In-Line Fuse, Military Grade Taps, RJ11,15" Long

Hope this helps for anyone interested.

Mirror tap size

Greetings,

I used the 0.060" mirror tap size, but you can also use the 0.075". You have to push it all the way down, carefully. Try not to bend the connectors as you push down. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the post! I also did the same thing. However, does anyone have any idea how to hard wire both dash cam and radar detector from mirror?

I did it with a v1 and dash cam. Get a customized cord from:
Safe-N-Sound1.com

One tap, two ends with fuses.

Thank you for the information. I just got a customized cord from Safe-N too. It is really good.

just fyi - i just did this and used the blendmount MirrorTap MTX. i was concerned about length because i didn't want it too long or short, but it turns out there is tons of space behind the mirror housing. i ordered the 15" cable and easily tucked the slack into the housing.

i found the housing to be easily removed by pushing up/into the housing to snap it apart.

the blendmount wire is nice and tidy. it comes with multiple spade sizes but my largest one was too short (solder joint in wrong place). Blendmount is sending me a replacement set, but the second to largest size works for now. it is a bit loose and a couple of cable ties should help.

i recommend the blendmount set but it is a bit pricey and adds an additional failure point (tips are swappable and where they push together isn't the tightest connection).

Does anyone have any idea if MirrorTap to our M5 will avoid car warranty?

I am going to have upcoming maintenance within a month. Should I remove it before going to dealer? I have a TELESERVICE (replaced old one) for this maintenance.

Thank you.
