Ticking bomb went off.

My charge pipe exploded on Saturday. I was in manual 3,000 rpm and heard a loud bang followed by the SES light and message "drive train malfunction: Drive moderately. Maximum output not available. Consult service center".

She got towed back to the dealership and pipe got replaced yesterday (Monday). So far so good and I hope new pipe is re engineered or reinforced. My SA told me that it affect a lot 335 with m sport package. I'm curious if anyone here replaced charge pipe more than once...

This is my first dealer assist experience and even if SA mentioned that will be a $0 charge dealership still charged me $50 deductible. Car is CPO and still under factory warranty (30K miles). Any idea why im getting deductible charge for something that is known BMW problem?

There should be no deductible with factory warranty. Did they explain what the $50 charge is all about? The invoice should also state the reason for $50.

Might be Canada, or might be just my dealership, but I was under impression that deductible was removed from CPO a year or two ago?
Few warranty things I had taken care of, I was never asked to pay deductible. Friend of mine who goes to the same dealership said that they used to charge him for it few years back, but sometimes would just wave it off.

It just says $50 deductible for charge pipe

Update: Just spoke with SA... They charged me "by mistake" ... I wonder how many "charges by mistake" go undetected. looks like they pulling a Wells Fargo crap.

While it's not entirely fair to the SA (it affects their pay), tell the SA you will not be able to rate them 9 or 10 on the survey due to this mistake. If you get the survey from BMW, put comments about this $50 charge and why that affects the score.

Good job catching the deductible and calling them on it.

Last year, local dealer had no loaners, so they arranged for rental for me.
I just happen to check the credit card statement online few days later and saw what seemed to be 3x the amount that I was supposed to be charged. When I called the dealer, they said, associated rental company said allowable mileage was way over what's allowed. I asked for mileage they had on file and once I mentioned that I always take photos of before and after mileage (on pickup and drop-off) things got resolved very quickly.

Now, this wasn't BMW dealership making mistake in my case, but I'm sure things like this happen all the time. Maybe in your case, it was just an honest mistake, I'd let it slide this time. No point in getting worked up over small amount since it's all sorted out now.

that's exactly what I did. I need to give them credit about service... it was quick and painless (tow, loaner etc.)

It still baffles me why BMW cannot put a reliable CP in their turbo cars

Would be interesting to know how many CP failures are on modded cars, and in places with "extreme" temperatures

He needed to go ahead and stick an E.R. charge pipe on it. Odds are the next time there won't be any warranty coverage.
