2014 428i convertible, luxury line, 25000 miles. Dealer is asking $38,900. Trade in value is 31k according to kbb. I always trade my cars every 2 or 3 years. Why is the trade in value so low....I would be in the hole if I bought this car and few years later trade it in again. A good deal would be 32k -33k. What are you thoughts?

First thing to know is what packages it has. Also, where does it stand in terms of supply vs demand based on your searches? Based on the KBB value you provided, I wouldn't pay more than $33-34k.

BMWs depreciate massively in the first 2-3 years. That's what you are seeing...

no kidding you would be in the hole if you bought the car and traded it in in a few years...
