good bye 328 hello 335

Hi everyone,
I finally decide to make a switch and into 335i. For very long time I just couldn't leave naturally aspirated l6 response and tossability of my e90 328i. I test drove sportline 335i and found car big and not exacting to drive. then drove M-sport... this package is a must! one week into ownership and I'm blown how versatile this car is. DD with serious performance... The only problem is, I can't stop driving. I'm thinking about MPPK. curious if anyone here had it done and how you like it?

MPPK is a very expensive tune for the 35+ hp and 30-ish lb-ft of torque that is provides, but it's a very very good one.. I'm not sure what year your 335i is, but as a 435i owner with the 2nd version of the PPK, it certainly offers a welcome power increase, but more importantly I love how it changes the character of the engine. Before getting the MPPK it felt like my engine was hitting a brick wall north of, say, 6500 RPM.. After getting the tune the engine revs much more freely to redline (no more hitting a brick wall feeling, well of course until you hit the rev limiter). Also you get nice little pops and burrbles when letting off the gas that I personally like (it's very subtle). An interesting observation though is that it felt like I had a little less torque down low after the tune.

congrats on your 335.. I liked my e92 328, but that I6 was just a little too gutless for my needs

335i is such great vehicle. I've had mine for 3.5 years and still think it's one of those rare vehicle where it can serve as a daily driver without any concerns and become instantly a sports car whenever one wants. Congratulations!

The MPPK is a must!

I added it to my 335 this last spring. Although the gain is suppose to be 35 HP, it is the torque in the mid-range that makes the system so good (50-70 MPH drops by 0.5 seconds). Additionally, the car pulls better above 5,500 RPM (no leveling off of power, the intake does not feel as it is lacking air anymore). But after you get it installed, it takes about 3 tanks of gas before the software fully adjusts. Moreover, the exhaust burbles really make the system fun! Worth every penny. I would also recommend the MPE to round out the system. It is not too loud so the neighbors (and Wife) do not get upset, but still has a great tone. By the way is yours the manual waste gate or the electrical waste gate? (Early MWG is 20 HP gain and EWG is 35 HP gain, mine is the EWG).

What kind of money for it, and does it have to be a BMW dealer to do the install?

Did you really have to wait 3-tanks of gas AKA 1,000 +/- miles? I noticed the gains/difference in power delivery right away.. No change from 0 miles after install to 50,000 miles after install.

A friend had bought the kit but never installed, I picked it up from him. I was looking for a while and seemed the best prices were at BMWPARTSPROSand getBMWparts (use links). Keep you eye open as they do have periodic sales but it will be $1,350 or so. Once you order, your local dealer can install, I paid $200 (1.5 hours labor). Both places are site sponsers.

Great question. Yes, I did notice immediately the increase in performance! but I also noticed that it continued to get a little bit better after each tank.

I also bought the MPE used from a fellow member on site. Brand new, best price I had found the MPE was $950 with tips last spring. If you get the MPPK, I would HIGHLY recommend the MPE. I installed the MPE after couple thousand miles of the MPPK and it brought out the beast from a sound standpoint. As a side note, my Wife said "You paid what for what????" Recently she drove my car and I made a point to put it into "Sport Mode" before she left, when she returned with the music loud and speeding in the neighborhood with a big smile, she excitedly stated, "I have not had that much fun with a car since you sold your Corvette Roadster!" Then she told me I will be driving her car to work (oops).
