228i turbo-back exhaust?
Is there such a thing? If not, what's my best option to stay cel free?
Wagner DP with high flow cat, MPE? I'm not really into the cutting/welding of an exhaust piece. Would prefer a piece that bolts right in for ease of returning it back to stock. What's the realistic gains for these mods? Plan on keeping stock intake, might do a ecu chip in the future. |

Cat back exhausts (like MPE) don't provide any HP gains. Just sounds better. The catalytic converter is the blocker so you'll need to get rid of that (hence why people get DPs). Most exhausts can be clamped on but you'll still need to cut the original exhaust.
Unfortunately, DP will throw CELs as no cat (or different cat) means the emissions is worse for the environment. The Wagner DP with cat may still throw codes. You won't get any HP gains with DP without a tune though. The computer already knows maximum turbo boost for the default DP and a tune is what gets bypasses it. For HP gains you should go tune -> DP. a JB4 is plug and play now (no more wire stripping on the new ones) so easier to revert to stock. For just sound (and easier BO) you should go catback exhaust -> intake. |
