2012 335 xdrive low coolant HELP!!!!

i HAD A LOW COOLANT WARNING. I CHECKED THE RESERVOIR AND NO COOLANT. BMW PARTS CLOSED TODAY AND TOMORROW. I DID TALK TO A SALESMAN THAT CALLED A MECHANIC AND HE SAID IT WOULD BE OK TO TOP OFF WITH WATER.
HE DIDN'T SAY DISTILLED WATER.
CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM? AUTO PART STORES ARE OPEN TOMORROW I JUST NEED TO KNOW WHAT KIND OF COOLANT IS OK TO PUT IN MY BMW.
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY MUCH NEEDED HELP!!!

as far as I know, you can run your car with distilled water (top up to a safe level) in the mean time. This method is not recommend if it happens in the winter time in Northern climate, of course.

If it's summer time just use distilled water to top off.

And check radiator and coolant hoses particularly near clamps and indirect around water pump for liquid. Sometimes using a good bright narrow beam flashlight can glisten any damp leaks.

I would "not" drive the car anymore , because probably you have somewhere a serious coolant leak ..
Caution for overheating of your engine... And that's no joke !

Dont mix the green coolant you generally get in auto parts stores with the blue BMW coolant. They are not compatible.

I would fill it to minimum with distilled water, drive the car a little and see if the level stays there.
If it stays you are fine till you can get some BMW coolant from the dealer to top it off all the way.

If it just keeps dropping you have a leak and shouldn't drive it.

Well... I suppose you found a solution by now. But you know you could have always called BMW Assist and they would come to you with some coolant.
