Got dinged

Kinda ironic. I went to meet a person to sell a xbox one and his passenger proceeds to ding my car.

I guess the money I got from the xbox is going into my ding repair.

There's a small ding and another one where the paint chipped off. Should I take this to the dealership or independent shop?

How much does it usually costs to fix these kind of things?

It was so weird how it happened. I watched him open his door and thought he would be smart enough to not let it fly open, yet he did. It wasn't even a lot of force, it barely hit my car. Why would the paint chip off instead of causing a ding?? I'll post pictures later.

The paint kind of sucks on our cars...I opened my door and barely tapped the side of my garage and it took a some paint of the door. Did you not get the guy's friend to pay for the damage?

Were it not for the paint chip you'd be looking at about $100 for PDR. Lease or own?

I would have canceled the deal. I don't trust person to person deals anyway. I use eBay.

I'm going to paraphrase what one of my favorite professors once said. "You can't squeeze blood out of a turnip". Going to take the L and move on.

Think touch up paint might work? ha ha.

I was surprised paint chipped off. Most cars would leave a little ding mark. Here the paint scraped off like it went through world war 3. With the maintenance cut backs and the paint flaking off from a love tap, my opinion of Bmw is starting to sink.

I've seen a lot worse on my previous vehicles and they held up much better than this.

Could use this on the paint chip after using touch up paint to level it off, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...c14350310870b7

Worked great on my last car, but the chip needs to be deep enough otherwise it will just remove all of the touch up paint.

Got one on my 228ix a month after I bought it. Friggin kids at the pool who don't know any better. We have a great touch up guy here, probably $60. The first one is the worst one.
