335xi help

I have a 2008 335xi and it came with a square 17" setup. Just put 19" staggered setup the other day (245/35/19) (265/30/19)

The car was aligned and everything but every time i go over 80mph i get a "4x4!" error code that pops up. It turns off after 30sec or so. I went about 100mph and the car didn't want to go any faster as if the speed was limited.

Anyone know the cause of this?

You're close to 2% circumference difference F/R, way over tolerance. Soon you may wreck your transfer case.

So I should have went with 275 in the rear? Any reason you think as to why my car doesn't pull over 100mph at times?

Yes you need to keep F/R circumference delta within 1%. That chart will tell you what you can get away with.

You ran up to 100 MPH after the 4x4 light came on? You may have activated some limiter that sensed the tire sizes were off, or it could be simply too much viscous drag in the transfer case. I would NOT drive around like this for very long, and certainly not push speeds that high with such a big delta.

These cars should switch to RWD at high speed so I'm not sure what is going on. If you have the standard speed limiter it is something like 130MPH, with sport package and some other stuff it is raised to 155 MPH. So you are nowhere near that. Hope you haven't damaged your transfer case.

Yeah I would always easily run over 100. I was doing some pulls today because I installed a new intercooler as well and it sometimes would push over 100 and the 4x4! error would pop up.

If you still have the 17" wheels and tires I'd throw those on and run it up to 100MPH see if it gives you the error. Meanwhile get some 275's for the rear and keep your fingers crossed about the TC.

Just ordered the 235s for the front off tire rack. Hopefully everything goes smoothly after that.

I run 235 in the front, you'll be fine with those.
