BMW of Lubbock Gave Away My Allocation
Three months after signing an order form with BMW of Lubbock, and after explicitly guaranteeing me an allocation, the dealership has given away my build slot and now refuses to take my call. Unfortunately, because they did not process my payment, I can not hold them legally accountable.
Now, after being screwed by both BMW of Dallas and BMW of Lubbock, I am truly dismayed that BMW of America is condoning this kind of behavior. While I'm sure it is now much too late, if anyone has a lead on a 2017 M2 allocation with a dealer they trust and respect (and is charging MSRP), I would greatly appreciate it if you would share their information with me. This is getting ridiculous. Beyond ridiculous. |

So you never had a production number, just the promise of an allocation?

Have any more details on what exactly they did? Were you the only person on the list 3 mos ago? Was this for the June batch of allocations? Did they actually receive one?

That is terrible and very unfortunate. Sorry for your loss! Call dealers asap and try to find another one!

The way they see it is: no payment = no deposit = no commitment, so I can't say I'm surprised they gave it away. |

Are you sure you have no legal recourse because they didn't charge you a deposit? A written contract is a written contract. That's their problem if they didn't charge your card.

That's terrible, OP did they give you a printout with the production number that included your name on it? My dealership did so I was even able to register my car on the BMW ownership website. I would see if your name was ever associated with the production order number. I think it is common for the dealers to wait until the production order number is created before the charge the card for the deposit but then again most dealerships follow through on their deals.

You're dealing with salespeople. This is why I follow up with mine every week to make sure I still have my spot on the waitlist and once in a while I'll call into the dealers where I'm next up on the waitlist and offer over msrp for the next allocation with a different phone number just to see if I still have my spot on the waitlist.

I live in California and bought my wife's M2 from El Paso BMW in Texas for ED MSRP. Everything was done on an email handshake. They took a $1000 check as a deposit and never cashed it. Every word they said they backed up with action. Not once did they exaggerate or lie. They were everything a salesperson (CA - Client Advisor) should be. They promised me the first allocation and when BMW NA wouldn't allow their launch car to be delivered in Munich they offered me that car in El Paso or their second allocation as a ED. We held out for the second one. When the second allocation came up they contacted me and completed the sale. Great people. You may want to contact them and see if they can help you out. Good luck.
The Internet Sales Manager is Jorge Salas - jsalas@gpiemail.com. The Client Advisor is Ismael Rodriguez - irodriguez@bmwofelpaso.com. Now, if the VPC can only get the differential replaced so the car can get shipped to El Paso I'll be a happy camper.

Hi all! Thanks so much for your your comments. Basically I signed an order from and provided credit card information to charge the 5000 deposit, but I was told it wouldn't be processed until the ED date was confirmed. I was the second person on their list at the time. Eventually I was sent a screen shot of a VIN number which I entered in My BMW and was tracking online. Once I noticed the car was built I called back to inquire why my card hadn't been charged and was notified that because my ED date was so far in the future, they gave the allocation to someone who was purchasing the car sooner. On that call I was promised a post 8/16 build slot, but another allocation would now have to be tracked down. After that call there were three weeks of radio silence and no calls I made to the dealership were returned.
Surprisingly today, only two days after starting this thread, I received a call from the dealer apologizing for the poor communication and again promising me an allocation. I have to imagine that this thread had something to do with me hearing back. All that said, I should have been more diligent about getting payment processed and following up more frequently. I also don't think there was anything malicious in BMW of Lubbock's actions. I think it was a mistake combined with really poor communication (and probably some embarrassment on their part). Until this issue, I had been impressed with their customer service, and their efforts today have partially restored my confidence in them. Fingers crossed my next post is good news. |
