I did and I'm happy. There are also tons of people happy with JB4. Before this thread turns into a blood bath, read about both and decide what you want. JB4 has more cool features but MHD is simple, switching maps is quick enough that I don't miss the on-the-fly switching of the JB4, and both give you a huge performance boost. MHD felt smoother to me but I didn't spend a lot of time trying to tweak the user settings of my JB4. Both have very active communities and are improving all the time. Also MHD has the exhaust burble which is pretty sweet if you like pretending you're driving something more exotic than a 3-series (guilty as charged)

jb4 lets you adjust every little detail of the car from a performance standpoint which most of us have no desire to mess with.. two key features of jb4 i can think of immediately would be the safety features with meth and map 5 for autotune with e85.. aside from that mhd will suit you better.

fwiw i owned and sold my jb4.. too many updates etc etc

MHD all the way. JB4 is just a boost controller that is worthless without a BEF (backend flash) unless you like bells and whistles that won't make you go any faster.

Backend flash is used by MHD to flash a calibrated map ie BEF. If your on stock turbos or not planing on going more than 22 PSI you do not need a JB4

Flash tuning only can make just as or more power than a JB4 + BEF on stock turbos. You not fooling the DME to think its doing something its not, then you have more problems to deal with.

I had great results running JB4 G4 and G5 in the past on my vehicles, but they had the same issue when you started pushing it hard. Transmission slip and not shifting gears. I think the BEF took care of that, but why run the JB4 if you need to get a BEF anyway. Just go directly to the MHD flash and have money leftover for a custom tune or more mods.

Oh thank God! I am so glad that this question was asked for the first time. I mean if it had been asked one or two or five hundred times before, you could have just searched for it. I'm really glad that this is original.

Someone sounds a bit salty

Can MHD control a meth safety for me?
NLS?
Port injection?
Anti lag?

Oh, it can't? That's too bad... I guess I'll have to stick to my "boost controller" that won't make me go any faster.

MHD is great, but cut the bull.

To be fair to the OP, most of the MHD discussion is inside one mega thread of a bazillion pages. Ain't nobody got time for 'dat!

If you believe I sound salty would you like to compare 100-200 times and dyno sheets of a flash only tune vs a JBR+BEF on stock turbos ?

Meth ? Can you present a dyno of a stock turbo car with JB4+BEF on meth ? Safety ? Having to use no meth is the best safety you can get.

Anti lag ? None of my cars need anti lag, the JB4 does cause its the JB4

Port Injection, sure you can tune flash only with Port injection with no JB4. Oh wait check this out, anti lag and PI vs MHD flash only with PI

NLS, what for ? None of my cars have issues with bog shifts, and it doesn't mean a thang if the other car is putting out more power. Point, show me a car on stock turbos using JB4+BEF with NLS with 100-200 times and I will compare it to a car with no NLS

This is how we resolve forum disagreements.......................

The JB4 is a tuning tool and can do a lot of things no other system including MHD can do. Which has been discussed to death in many threads. Little point to type it all out again.

One nice thing with MHD is they offer a JB4 BEF option so if you already have a JB4 then you can load the well developed JB4 back end flash maps using MHD. If you were to do a custom flash without a JB4 you'd need MHD options that are significantly more then the BEF.

Since the JB4 largely auto-tunes wastegate duty cycle almost no custom tuning is required to maximize a setup and free tuning/log review support is provided on n54tech.

there are plenty of JB4 + BEF cars out there putting down just as much, if not more, than flash only cars. In fact, someone had a very good and fair comparison of several OTS Flash Maps vs OTS BEF/JB4 Maps. Results were that both were very similar in terms of power and driveability and it was users choice as to which to run.

meth - lots of people run meth. whether it is safe or not is a different discussion. this discussion is that the JB4 integrates meth easily and has safeties in place to mitigate concerns.

Anti-lag. again, there are plenty of cars on flash only with lag and post shift bog. You need to visit the other forums maybe?

PI - again, like meth, jb4 integrates PI easily into the system.

I feel like the JB4 stole your girlfriend and now you are never going to forgive him and always do what you can to talk him down. JB4 + BEF or just flash are both great options. One may work better for what one person wants, while the other works better for someone else.

Get off your high horse already on how you are the best tuner ever and jb4 is a POS. your panties are showing.
