Downpipes Question

I just got my new VRSF down pipes. I have an 07 BMW 335i. I am waiting on the VRSF downpipe fix before I install them.

I am a little confused about the downpipe fix.

I have read you should only use it to fool emissions and that's it, and I have read it fine to use it as a daily driver so you don't blow codes etc.

I don't have a tune.

So, which is it?

Do I have to get something like MHD flasher and just send the fix back to VRSF or what?

The DP FIX is used for 2 reasons. Defeat emissions inspection OR to use for removing the check engine light in the absence of a tune.

So it still has value with a tune because it can be used at the time of inspection.

It should only be used with a tune for inspection and not daily driven with it on for long period of time as it alters AFR negatively.

Ok, so if I do not have a tune, I can use it for daily driving? I just don't want a bunch of codes popping up.

Please advise

don't use as daily driver. only to pass emissions test. you should return it if you don't have emissions check where you live.

Do you plan to tune, not a lot of benefits to DP's if you don't run a tune. If you are going to tune it, several flashes code out the errors and depending on our emissions test, that may be enough - here we are allowed 1 not ready which coding out the 02 errors will set the channel to not ready which will pass here if you have no other issues. Otherwise, you would need to DPFix and to flash back to stock to get through emissions or if you run a JB4 etc, you would need dpfix.

You may be missing a very important piece of information here. Without a tune, downpipes are basically pointless. Also, in that other thread you started today, didn't you mention a JB4?

A tune will have an auto clear function which means it will keep the cel light from coming on the dash. A dp fix is something different and individually sold. It's meant to be put on the car a day or two before emissions and you take the auto clear off on your tune and it will allow all monitors to be in ready state and pass emissions. After that the dp fix is supposed to be taken off.
