I know a few people will be running a winter setup. Can you all post the rims you're going with (if they're 18s")? So far I haven't seen anything I've liked for the car and I don't wanna spend a fortune.

Normally 640M is a set of 2x18x8,5" and 2x18x9". I asked the seller if it might be able to deliver 4x18x9" to mount 245-18 Michelin Alpin all around. Waiting for an answer.

Curious as well. Definitely do not want 19's for the winter. And if there is a square setup that would be even better.

clearing our M brakes is the challenge. 18's will be limited. square set up is fine for winter but 19's will have all the options. I think an 8 or 8.5 width should be fine though on the 19 inch rim for winter. narrower tires do better performance wise in terms of cutting through snow and stopping distance.

265 rear 235 front The Hankooks work pretty good - maybe in the same category as the A050,s or DZ03. Not really sure as I havent used the yokohamas or the dunlops |

I've found a an OEM M3/M4 winterset. I'm pretty sure it will fit (the wheels at least) but wanted to confirm the tires won't be too wide at the front.
Its the staggered 640M set, so 18x8.5 at the front and 18x9 at the rear. Tires are the Conti Winters 255/40/18 all around. Can someone confirm for whether the fronts will rub or not? |

Check out the group buys for the M3/M4 on the forum. Same brakes so should be fine (I will be checking soon). I got the 18" Apex Wheels and they look great.

My priority for winter wheels is that they are inexpensive without looking too horrible, and I tend to run one size lower than stock, so I too will be looking for 18" wheels.
I have been a loyal Tire Rack customer for almost 20 years, and cannot be bothered to shop elsewhere because I cannot find another place that can match their prices for wheels and their level of service. I also plan to go AW so will be looking for a darker wheel for aesthetic reasons. As of now, Tire Rack only has one 18" wheel option listed for the M2, and it comes in black, so if I were to buy a winter wheel right now, this is the one I would buy- the RIAL P10: http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/resul...6&autoModClar= Granted it's not the fanciest wheel out there, but during winters here the roads are so riddled with potholes that I'd much rather write off a $200 wheel than $500 one. Also with the amount of deep snow we get, I will be running a narrower square set-up: 235 or 245 all around. I realize that may sacrifice some dry pavement grip, but in the winter that is the least of my concerns. I absolutely hate our winters Last edited by IS+1; 08-19-2016 at 02:19 PM.. |
