timing corrections while cruising

been having this problem for some time now which i never had before while regular city driving cruising speeds i get timing corrections on multiple cylinders anywhere from -2.7 to -8 deg. this occurs on multiple maps that i've tried / 94 pump and/or e30

tried maps with very low timing (1-3deg) and moderate timing (6-9deg) and its the same outcome no matter what.

new 5770 NGK plugs in the car .... maybe these are not as good as the old 5992's ??

also get a cold start stumble/misfire in rpm ( which triggered a misfire a couple times in cylinder 4) i swapped coils around and have not had it since.

currently have a 2C7B code ..

Logs are clean when going WOT other than post shift corrections

im stumped and dont know if i should order new coils to start

any insight would be appreciated

Timing corrections during normal everyday driving at light throttle are normal, you'll be spinning your wheels trying to get those to not correct.

Only corrections that matter are at WOT. Even then 1 or 2 is normal too.

When was the last time you have changed coils or had a walnut blasting on the intake valves?

coils have not been replaced.... walnut blast was done about 10k miles ago

Have you done anything recently with your o2 sensors or downpipes?

2C7B is a secondary o2 sensor signal.

You are on original coils? How many miles on them?

i bought the car with 74,000 kms and now at 115,000kms (been tuned since 80,000) and i have never put in new coils.

in the last 2 months the inlets were installed (downpipes removed) after the install one of the O2's were replaced as it went bad or was damaged during install and was giving me a frozen reading when monitoring the AFR through MHD

For some reason I get lots of minor timing corrections at around 40 load while cruising. Could be my VANOS settings in my tune doing something funky at those load levels.

Only around 1 degree correction or less though. What you are seeing (-8 deg) isn't normal AFAIK.

Post up a log.

You may want to look into your secondary O2 sensor. I'm not very familiar with that particular code.

It might be good practice just to replace all 6 coils.

Although 8 is a lot, it's still could be very normal. Really depends because enough load and heat with bad gas (low octane) could just be the reason.
