Pilot Super Sport or Pilot Sport Cup 2
I'm located to change tires after I get my wheels here from Japan, which tire do you guys recommend? It rains here in Taiwan about 1/3 of the time... Pilot Super Sport or Pilot Sport Cup 2? both have size that's similar in 20's than the stock 19's that I need for my new wheels in 20X9.5J ET22 20X10.5J ET30. 245/30/20 285/30/20. Which one do u guys recommend for 1/3 rain?

looks like my installer now tell me put on PSS, because he doesn't like Cup 2 tire sizes, if Cup 2, only size will fit is
245/30/20 front 285/30/20 rear but PSS he recommends 265/30/20 front 285/30/20 rear tire size he wants, but I think too narrow in the back 255/30/20 275/30/20 |

If you are driving in the rain, I would go with the Michelin Pilot Super Sport. The Sport Cup 2 is a great track tire, but not the best for the street or the wet. It will also wear very quickly.
The PSS will be a much better everyday tire. |

Thanks Keith, that's what my local track friend told me too, but Cup 2 got better handling according to both of you. Just wondering if that size will fit with the M Performance coilovers...

20X10.5J ET30 with tire size 285/30/20 is going to be very aggressive. It will most likely rub. We would not be able to guarantee that to clear.

You will likely not experience much difference on the street relative to handling. The Cup 2 will work better with heat and you will never get them up to temperature on the street without risking death and/or jail. PSS are more than enough tire for street use IMO. The PSS can handle pretty much anything you throw at it outside of a track with less compromises than the Cup 2.

The closest in overall diameter would be a 245/30/20.

I am running both tires on my cars but living in Spain where winter is mild and not rainy.
To be honest, I dont see the point of getting a set od SC2 unless you track your car. Otherwise, PSS are really good, delivering tons of grip and better on rain (SC2 are good on water, but obvioulsy not as good as PSS). You will get a significant more miles on PSS than on SC2, but there is less difference than I thought at the beggining. I am getting 12.000/14.000 kms on a set of PSS (including track days), and 9.000/10.000 on the SC2 (with more track days than the PSS). In my case, I am now ONLY using SC2, but only as my car is used "for fun applications" with frequent track use and I dont have issues with rain in my country. Other than that...I would go for PSS. Amazing tire.

Like many have said, if you track, SC2s are the only answer. If not Track, PSS. I have driven both and I am in love with the SC2, Dunlop Sport Maxx, Bridgestone RE71R, etc. for the track and it is all I will run - very sticky tires. If you are just a DD guy with back road driving then, buy the PSS. However, the PSS on the track will be just okay because after a lap or two they get too HOT to really grip - the PSS are just not made for real track driving at temp but it is a great street tire.

Haha. You are going to run 20s with sport cups? Honestly, all I can say is are you out of your mind? Not only is the ride quality going to be poor, but when it rains 1/3 of the time, the cup tires are slippery, definitely not a commuter tire. Not even close. The super sport is really the best tire Michelin ever released. A much better choice.
