Removing a smudge mark

Okay, I just had my car beautifully detailed by john1c. I was just getting ready to post pictures actually. He did an amazing job! But then I got the dreaded call this morning from my neighbor that he backed into my car. I haven't had a chance to see the damage yet, but he said that there was just a smudge or scuff mark. I have barely had my car a week and this happens. Oh well. My question to you, is how likely is it that a detail will remove the mark? I'll try and post some pictures of the damage when I go home to look at it.

From what it sounds like you have a 50%/50% chance. Post some pics and I will be able to tell you what needs to be done.

The only thing that I might be worried about as far as "buffing" or detailing a mark out is when they are deep, you have to take a lot off clear off to get it out. Later down the road when you need to get a full detail to take care of swirls, you might not have enough clear to work with.

Post a pic and I will let you know.

Thanks for your input so far. I just got home and uploaded the pics right now. It's very hard to see the scratches from the pictures, but take a look and see if you can tell whether I'll need to paint it or not. At this point, I'm almost thinking that I'd rather just paint it and be done. What are the negatives if any, of having the whole bumper painted?

And here's a picture of the car just before it had happened. You can see how good john1c did on the detail.

Honestly, I think that buffs right out. Don't go thru the trouble of painting if you can just buff this one out.

Thanks! That's what a friend of mine thought when he looked at it last night. Now if I can just get a hold of a good detailer so that they can look as well. lol. Does anybody know of a really good detailer in the LA area that might be able to fix this?

yeah, Chad, I'd have John just come over and work his magic first...

I've seen his swirl removal first hand, he can buff those out.

If you want the best, let me know. I would not trust anyone else with my car.
