Shipping Horror Story Inside...DAS
Hello all,
This is the story of how my 2008 335i e90 became to be. Background on me, i am 19 and bought this car myself. I had semi restored/upgraded a 1969 Mustang coupe sold it and now i am here with savings on top. Please don't tell me i made the wrong choice with the car as the deal is done. Anyway... I purchased the car from a small dealership in Southern California where i used to live. I am now living in St. Louis, MO going to school. My parents and i had checked out this BMW and decided it was a good option. We purchased the vehicle and were going to have it shipped to my house out here. No need to drive it the extra miles are not needed. This is where the trouble begins...the hunt for a shipping company wasn't hard just type "auto shippers" into Google and you be hit with 100's of options. But the one that stood out was called Dependable Auto Shippers (DAS for now on). DAS Why not go with them? They advertise that they have been in business for many years, and hey they are dependable right? No. Hindsight is 20/20 so don't judge We paid in full for the transportation about 800 and was quotes a 7-9 day travel time, which was great. But when the addendum came and the ETA was 19 days we were a little confused but thought it was just a precaution. It was far from a precaution it was a warning sign. They picked up the car right after payment and we didn't get any email or anything from DAS for days. Then car then sat in their warehouse for 8 days with no returned calls. finally it was put in transit...to TX. Where it then sat for another 18 days. At this point we started to dig and find AWFUL reviews and and F waiting from the BBB. Still so responses from DAS, their endless voicemail loop was the only voice. After digging into the company farther we found some name, numbers, contact information on the company and we got them to hurry their a$$ up. Finally I got the car on Jul 18. A month after payment was received. And of course there was damage...nothing too major but enough to need a claim (ill ad more info as the claim process progresses. Here is the kicker. The dealer gave us a 30 day warranty for the car, and since the shipment to 30 days i lost my warranty. (lawsuit worthy?) only a big deal because as soon as i got it i put it in fake-manual mode and got up to 5k rpm then boom half CEL. Its looking like the HPFP which I'm still under warranty for so no biggie but who knows what other codes we will find. Sorry for ranting or if this makes no sense but NEVER EVER USE DAS |

What's interesting nowadays is so many businesses have A+ ratings with the BBB, yet they are not actually good businesses....not sure how that works. Maybe they start there when there are no complaints for x months? Thing is most people complain elsewhere, yelp, google, blah blah blah. So for a place to actually have a F rating on the BBB says a lot...good luck OP I hate rip offs.....

It's kind of like when you get an internet car loan, and interest starts the day it's approved, and you don't get a check until 10 days later. End of the world? No. But multiply it across all the internet car loans... |

Well with just my luck the shipping company won't return any calls. And the cherry on top is that the BMW Dealer said that my turboS are out....they quoted me 4,800 is that about right? I am taking it to an independent tomorrow morning to verify the diagnosis and get their quote.
