transmision swap 6AT to 6MT
hi guys
i have been building my car for the last 4 years and progressivly increasing power so im aiming for 700whp and my 6AT will be a week point i have flashed the tcu and tuned for more torque but now feel that i must either look at what Nizpro are about to develop or swap to 6MT Does anyone know what is required for a full manual tranny swap? thanks |

I did it. Along with many other members. Its quite easy and very cost effective if you do it yourself. Which again, it's an easy process. Everything mechanically swaps in without needs of "custom" work done. You just need all the necessary manual parts then do some coding, which there are a few threads around about how to do it and you literally just copy and paste.
Secondly, you'll need the clutch switch module harness. Which is nearly impossible to find the part # for. But I have it on file if you need it. Just PM me if you need it. Its a $14 connector and makes things a bit cleaner rather than making a mess by doing a bunch of splicing. You can get the just of the swap by following Nicks DIY (which he hasn't completely finished, but 90% of what you need to do is there). Last edited by CeeWhizzle; 07-18-2016 at 04:29 PM.. |

6MT swap will be cheaper than than the Nizpro solution by a factor of 3. And the Nizpro solution isn't widely proven yet. Yes it supposedly works on their shop car, but so did Level10's trans at one point. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't be in the first group of people to test out Nizpro.
If you shop around for used parts you can probably pull off the 6MT swap for around $2000, not including upgraded clutch/flywheel or labor. You'll have to weigh your priorities... cost, reliability, capability, speed. Of these I think the 6AT wins only in speed (faster shifts leading to faster 1/4 times)
