Can't put cabin air filter back on. Help!

I took off the cabin air filter, wire harness etc. so I could replace my valve cover gasket. I'm all done except now I can't get the air filter back on. If I screw one side in the other is sticking up too much to be screwed down.

Another issue is that when I turned the car on for the first time a steering wheel symbol with an exclamation point popped up on the dash.

I don't think you have the tray that runs underneath it it on correctly. There's a groove on it that fits onto the lip of the wiper base.

That fixed it, thanks! Also, the steering wheel error was that the active steering was disabled, but as soon as i started driving the error went away

This is why BMW gets $100 to do the microcabin.....just joking glad it's sorted out. I broke a tab when taking out the wiring loom for my abs job, but gorilla glue fixed it.

It is. The other one is good so it holds it down fine. Those cowl filters look good, I'll probably pick them up. I'm assuming they act as the cabin air filter
