Clunking/Knocking noise when turning steering wheel to the left!

I noticed a knocking noise in my front suspension when turning my steering wheel to the left. The sound seems to be more profound going over large bumps and rough roads.

What could this be?

Thanks

Might be bad control arm bushings. Those tend to clunk when the rubber fades out. You can test them by jacking up the car and holding the front wheel at 3 and 9 position, then look for slight wiggle when trying to move the wheel front and back.

me too....

Can the bushing alone be replaced or must the entire control arm be replaced? My 2008 335i coupe has a knocking sound emanating from the front over bumps at a steering angle..

Make sure your steering rack bolts are tight, people have issues after installing DPs and not fully tightining down after

Thanks, I'll check that out but I've never modified my suspension. I suspect a control arm bushing has failed, need to get under and find out!

Time to change the tie rods & front control arms.

ECS has M control arm real cheap and the tie rods to. Probably looking at $435 in parts, if you do it right. Plus a 4 wheel alignment ($90.00)

Could also be your strut mounts. Mine makes clunking noises that can be felt in the steering wheel. My strut mount is definitely toast - the rubber is cracked almost all the way around:
