Inline thermostat options

Hi guys. Oil cooler retrofit. Using an oil filter housing adapter plate and inline thermostat. Looking for options for an inline thermostat. So far I've read that Earl's t-stat o-rings don't always fit so great. The Improved Racing one looks great, particularly cause I don't want to open until 215deg (180deg won't get me close enough to operating temp on my daily driver commute 90 percent of the time). It's a bit pricier though. Any other options?

Also does anyone have the Earl's thermostat installed? What's your typical oil temp during daily driving (and what size core are you using)?

Improved racing is the best I have seen and what I use.

185 version or 215? What's your oil temp during regular driving?

I would go 215 for sure. You don't want cold oil going to your turbos and 185 isn't that hot.

Right this is exactly the reason for my thread -
A.) What temp does fully open at 185 through a 25-row narrow cooler yield in daily driving, and is it hot enough, and
B.) Am I correct that the 185 will be better when beating the shit out of the car on track, cause it's just allowing the opportunity to cool down sooner?

A.) With the 185F thermostat fully open (with a 25-row cooler assuming this has a core size of double the stock) you can be looking at 185F~220F for DD if you drive less than 20-30 minutes at a time. Which means, it may not be hot enough to evaporate condensation.
B.) On the track, the thermostat will likely be open all the time so it doesn't even matter if you start the cool down sooner because your oil cooler might not even be able to dissipate the heat.

The improved racing thermostat is designed such that there's always partial flow of the oil. I personally use the 215F from Improved Racing and with the ER sports oil cooler (which is 3.5 times the core size of stock), I'm seeing about 220F on DD of 30 minutes.

Great info, thanks man. To your last point - what do you get up to on the track with this setup?

I run a 25 row setrab, at the end of an autocross session which is 6 runs with about 3-5 minutes between each on a 1.2mile course I will get up to 240*. That's in 85* weather
