Hit curb, car doesn't drive straight and screeches need help!
Hey guys, was raining out yesterday, was making a turn at bout 40-50 mph lost control hit the curb on the drivers side front and the car. The car was like dragging in the front and the wasn't straight. When he steering wheel is straight the drivers wheel is pointing out to turn left. I attached some photos of what it looks like and also the control arms and tie rods, was wondering if u guys see any serious damage and what I can do to fix this, would I possible just need an alignment? New tie rods? I'm good at DIY, so any idea of what issue maybe please let me know, I also got the following CCID CODES, 50, 354, 35, 71, 24.
Thanks in advance, Btw it's a 07 328i 6SP MT Last edited by akf30; 07-12-2016 at 03:17 PM.. |

It sounds to me like you bent your lower control arm. I did the same thing a few months ago to mine and the symptoms sound the same.
If you jack your car up and take a picture of it looking up that would help me see it. If your wheel is sticking out like that its definitely more than just an alignment. Did your dashboard light up like a Christmas tree like mine did? That's an easy fix actually if you have some hand tools and a sawzall. You will need an alignment after its done though.

They may reset on their own once everything is straightened out. You get a number of DSC codes like that when the sensor is reporting odd numbers.
I'd thoroughly inspect all of the suspension though...there's a good chance that it won't be just one part that's bent. You normally don't strictly need an alignment after doing the control arms, but I'd bet that after an impact like that it will be out of adjustment, and they can also check if anything else is bent. If something is bent then you'll typically have the non-adjustable angles out of spec. |

And yes that control arm is smoked. lol Mine looked similar before it snapped in half completely while I was limping the car home. This is a very good DIY for the control arm swap: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=788761 Good luck!

After you replace the broken part if you don't have a scan tool disconnect the battery for 30 mins it should reset itself.

Lmao @cpeter753, I luckily was able to limp it the 2.5 miles home at 5-10 mph an hour. Luckily it didn't snap.
I will just end up replacing the both sides upper and lower control arms and tie rods + rack and pinion boots. |
