2011 335i xDrive Engine self-rev/RPM Surges at cold start?!
I did a search and a lot of folks with this issue either have older cars and/or done engine modifications.
I'm neither. No modifications to engine or "chipped" drive computer. My car only has 44,000 miles. It was last checked out 2,000 miles ago at dealership April 2016. New Engine Air Filters, Oil Change April 2016. No codes. Since I've been busy with work I tend to barely drive my car with weekends being the only time it is driven while the car is parked all week. Lately I noticed the RPMs surging/engine self-revving for about 30 seconds every time I start the engine, put it in D and start driving off. If I keep the car in P (park) and don't drive off immediately then I don't experience this. Could this be the Fuel Pump?

Mine also does this. When moving very slow, with the foot on the brake a little after starting the car a minute or two ahead of time. It surges forward until the engine has a few more minutes of warm up time.

Since it is now summer in the North East my AC was left on when I parked the car and was back on immediately when I started the car! That was when I noticed this. I guess I shouldn't leave the AC on if I am going to park the car for a week at a time.
