What the fuuuuh???? Folding mirror problem
So this happened today. If im away from the car and come and unlock it, it will do this. Sometimes as you can see in the video, if i exit and lock it, it will do that. Sooo anyone have a clue as to what is going on and how to fix it?

Looks like the stop part that is supposed to tell the motor to stop moving is broken obviously. Get a schematic from getbmwparts.com and see what part does this and replace. Sorry, idk exactly but it's better than uust laughing.

Oh man. I've been there. Twice. Had one replaced by BMW. The other one I put back to the out position and "disabled" the feature.
You know what I never think about or miss. Folding mirrors. |

Both of my mirrors had this problem on my 330xi. I messed with it until I got it in just the right position, then I took the cover off and cut one of the wires. I think it was the yellow one, but not certain. I taped off the ends of the wires after cutting them. Now I no longer have folding mirrors, but who cares.

Here is the thread I found to fix this problem:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=469168 I guess I cut the white wire. It's been a while since I did this.

I had some problems with my folding mirrors before. I read somewhere that they make the crazy "pop" sound to reset themselves so that they fold out to the correct distance the following time. After discovering that, I let the mirrors go nuts and fold in/out until they sorted themselves.
If that doesn't work for you, something is broken inside the mirror housing, meaning things are about to get expensive, time consuming, or both. In that case, I would go the same route as JimKW and cut the wire. Folding mirrors are pretty useless on the E90 anyway-- the car is not very big to begin with and the mirrors are tiny, so the convenience of folding them in is pretty minimal. Good luck.

May be the same issue as this? http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=683764
I'd try that first before you cut anything. |

Manually and carefully fold the mirror all the way back in (up against window). Now drive and let the mirror unfold on its own. That should reset it.
