Insurance has gone up a fair whack

Picking up my 340i tomorrow, had a quote when I ordered for about 500 quid which I thought was fair enough. Had my More Than policy on hold after selling my last car, only to be told they won't insure without a tracker.

just went with Admiral for £760... Thought it was because of the car, but nope, ran a quote for my old 125i and that's £650 now.. £250 more than I paid to renew in April!

If your buying insurance for the next week or so its always more expensive than in a month or so.. Maybe thats the problem ?

50% increase in the space of a couple months is the problem.

Start of the month is the problem.

Sales targets at end of month mean better discounts.

Surely something must have changed with your risk?

I've just renewed my policy and allowing for the insurance premium tax increase, it was cheaper than last year by a few pence. Same company, same risk.

BTW, F11 535i; fully comp', protected, legal cover, hire car 'plus', etc., for £237

I got a quote for the 440i in April when I ordered it - £431

Just done it again as my renewal is up at the start of August - now £271

Go figure

Same house, same wife and kids, same jobs, same 11 years ncb, never had an accident. All the details are stored on my CtM account so exactly the same. London is always going to be dearer, but even the hike for my old car is a joke. More Than wouldn't even cover the new one unless it was kept in a garage or had a tracker, I live in a bloody posh neighbourhood as well

Try giving Chris Knott a shout to see if he can get your quotes down....

Nice car, not many around.

I had a colleague who worked in insurance previously and he told me that every 3 years insurance companies shift the risk, which means suddenly the cheap company is ridiculously expensive and vice versa. So his tip was ALWAYS do the rounds and get quotes. But we all know that...

Admiral seem to have ramped up prices. At least for the over 30s... My renewal just went in today at £1480 vs £1100 last year. Quick confused.com shows i can save £200 on the Golf R with Privelege but getting nowhere with the 335d, presumably due to the declared mods 😬

Compared to £200 for my modified RS2 its a joke. Gonna make some calls to Sky, AF etc and see what can be done. Any recommendations on specialists?

You need some of this as essential bit of kit when trying to get insurance these days

Mine went up from £297 to £415 on a Admiral multicar policy - still £50 cheaper than the next best quote. Missus Nissan Juke went up from £215 to £245 - best quotes for that individually was £290.

Remember reading a while back that insurance year on year had risen by about 30% so mine was a little over and hers a little under.

When I swapped the 335d to the M3, Direct Line said "that'll be a £93 refund sir".
Strange!
