Injen Induction Kit 330i

Anyone tried this:

http://www.vr-speed.com/injen-sp1121...-bmw-328i.html

(I know it says for 328i but it fits 330i: http://www.injen.com/docs/injen/productpress.asp)

I know this may sound stupid. But what would be the benefits of this system, over say replacing your paper filter with a k&n filter and leaving the lid off your filter box?

Don't do this. You'll draw all your air from the hot engine compartment rather than the outside, cooler air...

I think the performance intake comes with a K&N style filter, don't know if it is exactly the same or not.

Did you notice any difference fitting the K&N filter?

Pointless . This can cause maf sensor problems and no performance gains. Take top of your airbox and test it.

Hi Guys

My reply was just a question based on the designs of various CAI's out there.

When i fitted my K&N filter, i noticed no mentionable difference in performance or sound. I only swapped it based on longevity of its lifespan.

However the Injen kits and many others out there, seem to be made up of a cone filter, with a heat shield around the bottom and sides.

If i was to take the lid off my air box, i would be left with virtually the same design.

If taking the lid off the box was to cause maf issues, then why wouldn't the expensive CAI's?

Thanks

P.S. sorry to hi-jack the thread a little!

Here we go again. If a K&N causes MAF issues, why do BMW supply one with their very own Performance intake?

Turns out after a day of driving around without the lid on my air box with k&n, I don't like the results!

Sounds really good! Performance is sacrificed.

Safe to say the lid will be back on in the morning!

Oh and I will not be purchasing an induction kit!

Thanks

DJ
