Going to the drive in and how not to kill battery ?
I plan on going to the drive in and don't really want to have battery drain issues or dead battery so which way is best. I know it is a noob question but I searched and can't find a thread on the issue most has to do with comfort access which I don't have. Should I just put key in and don't push on start button or put key in and push button once or twice ? Any help would be appreciated , I don't want to have to be stranded at 2am after 4 hours of movies thanks for any responses.

Frankly, you car will go into sleep mode within 10 mins of uninterrupted buttons presses of radio/ start buttons.. If you are having issues with battery problems then it's time to replace the battery.

Battery is 2 years old so that isn't the issue. Which option 1. Just put key in no push of start button turn radio on 2. Put key in one push of start button no foot on brake or 3. Just let it idle for 4 hours while viewing.

I would just turn on the radio, then start it maybe every 30 mins to make sure its not dying. Our batteries are massive compared to most cars, so it should last a whole movie no problem

The car is supposed to start turning off accessories if the battery is getting low. I'm not entirely sure if that includes the radio, but it may.
But as for how to do it, you don't want the ignition on. Just put the key in and turn on the radio. I think that's how it works, I can't remember right now for some reason. But you don't want the dashboard lights or the climate control on, just the radio should be on. |

I go to the drive in's, 2 movies in a row without starting...no issue. You can leave the car off and just leave the radio on. Just put the key in, keep lights off.
Have done this many times. Most drive in's have employees there with jump pack just in case. Never seen anyone need it though.

The few remaining drive in movie theaters are so far from anywhere most people live that just the drive there should be enough to charge the battery.

Thanks guys for all your responses. I suppose just putting the key in and not hitting the start button seems to make the most sense so I'll go with that method.

Last drive-in I saw showed xxx. Could see screen from road driving by also. I don't think audio would be as important there.
I never went to it. |

What? That's awkward. Why would people watch porn in a group setting with strangers, where they would be getting it on with someone (or themselves) in the car next to you??

Yep, there are a few around
This one closed for a few years and then a community group got the money put together and re-opened it. It is usually packed every weekend night. http://www.hullsdrivein.com/ This one has been open for 60 years now.... http://www.thefamilydriveintheatre.com/ There was a third one near central Virginia but the concession stand / restaurant caught fire in the Spring and they haven't rebuilt it. |

You'll be fine. I go to drive in theatres and my car lasts for 2 movies. Just keep it on radio. At that time my battery was 5 years old. I just recently got a new battery

Well a couple things to note made in through both movies but ....... after 15 min or so car will put its self to sleep radio will just shut off.I had to re-start the car or press the start button which would turn on drl. I would have just kept it running but two things catless dp so someone behind me complained about the exhaust and secondarily couldn't park anywhere but front row because drl. I forgot how to shut them off on the stalk. So if anyone knows how to shut off the drl that would help for next time. Maybe the boombox wasn't such a stupid idea after all.
