Dorman eccentric shaft sensor
I need an eccentric shaft sensor and here in Canada I can't get a good price for the original siemens VDO (around 450$ here).
On rockauto I can get a dorman one for 250$ CAD shipped.. (almost half price). I checked on their website and its seems fine.. Original Engine Variable Timing Eccentric Shaft Sensors typically fail due to spot welds in the original design, which allows oil to seep into the unit; leading to electronic failure. Dorman's OE Fix solution offers a new design featuring a new stronger ultrasonic weld to prevent oil from contaminating internal electronics. Direct replacement for popular BMW applications Re-engineered by Dorman to address failure modes found in the original design Replacement protects against potential engine damage This part has undergone vehicle try-on and vehicle simulator testing to meet product standards and quality http://www.dormanproducts.com/p-7734...sor&origin=YMM What you guys think? |

Is there any warranty on that part? Not sure if you're going to DIY this, but it's a pretty time consuming job and most people do the VCG at the same time. I mean, if there's a decent warranty and you're doing the work yourself, I'm sure it will be fine. It's not like the OEM one is all that good. My wife's failed on her 2011 E90 with like 45K miles on it.

I don't have any experience with their ESS but I did install two Dorman vanos solenoids a few months ago for $35 each. They've been working great for me, car runs much smoother and two solenoid errors are gone.

I'll do the job myself, I have another car so I can take my time doing the job. I already ordered Valve covert gasket and bolts, Eccentric shaft gasket and valvetronic gasket, intake gasket and the vent hose. I'll replace my starter in the same time (starter and new bolt are already here).
Im only missing the eccentric shaft sensor now.. and I don't feel like paying 450$ for it lol I'll also take a look at both disa valve (hope they are fine lol) |
