Need alternative for a license plate mount
Hey all, I know something was posted a long time ago in regard to my title, but I'm at work so unable to look. I'm having an M3 style front bumper installed in a handful of months, but don't want holes drilled into it. I remember there was a mount that attached to the grille that I would definitely be interested in. Is anyone familiar with that and/or can point me in the right direction to secure one? Thanks. I hope I have some good responses by the time I get home tonight.

pretty cheap and works great for me. You can either take off the bumper and attach it on the grill or just drill two holes at bottom of the bumper.

I have used this very successfully: http://www.rhoplate.com/
Go with the V2 as it is a huge improvement from the first version (I know, I have owned both). Thanks! |

Agreed. But check this out. In Texas the law stated you must have a front license plate, but nowhere in the books did it show a penalty amount, fine, or anything. So I once got a ticket by a cop who tried to hassle me in my track car. I go to court, state the excerpt and make sure to mention there not being a penalty, and the judge agrees and says it's all dismissed. So sweet, no plates and I'll just deal with the occasional stop.
New for 2015, an assessed and set in stone fine. So great, now we have to have plates or hope no one notices. |

I typically get out of tickets somehow. Once I didn't even have my license and I was going 55 in a 35 and he just let me go. |

Yup, but some of us don't have a choice. Since I was stuck sticking an ugly US licence plate in the front of my car I went with a US MillWorks tow-hook mount and I'm pretty happy with it. You can customize the angle it sits at and where on the rectangular plate it is held by to minimize the ugliness of having a front plate, and it won't black any air from the getting to the FMIC.

Honestly, I'd just run without it and deal with the consequences. They aren't going to pull you over very often. Texas has a "rule" too but basically people just don't follow it. |

Whether or not you can run without it depends on your area. I had a 540i M-sport that I took the front licence mount off of because it was ugly. I got $400 of tickets in one month. My cousin was pulled over in a Miata here because he got one of the plates that fold up when wind hits them and the cop couldn't see it. Risk it if you can, but be prepared..
