Why So Quiet?

We were seeing almost daily spy shots of the f10 at this point. The g30's reveal is in two weeks and the last camo pic was like a month ago!

How do you mean in two weeks?
Shouldn't it be in October in Paris?

G30 official press release will be at the end of this year, and in showrooms march 2017.
In Brussels we have auto show end january, and the G30 will be there in a 'closed room'.

The fact that where spy shots of the G30 seemed to have stopped coming in the last week or so, plus the rumour that an official unveiling is just about 2-3 weeks away could mean something may well be afoot.

Just as reliable as I was with the G11/12 except I was politely asked not to provide as much preview feedback this time. Last minute changes are rather difficult.

G11/12 online reveal - June 2015 - first Auto Show 3 months later

G30 - online reveal July 2016 - first auto show 3 months later (Paris in October)

I certainly hope you are right

Can't wait to see new 5, I want to order a new car in next few months and new series 5 is one of the top candidates.

Any info on 550i model? Same engine as now? Will it appear at the same time as 540i, 530d or later...

MPerformance Model - M550i. If you are a fan of the F10 exterior, chances are the G30 will be no different.

M550i would be just perfect!
Any guess about availability? I suppose it will not be offered at the beginning but rather ~1 year later (like Merc E43 AMG), which is a bit to long for me.

I am a huge fan of F10 design, and the whole car. I think G30 will be more or less smaller G11, I do not expect surprises there .
Currently I drive F07, still regret I did not get F10 due to much sportier ride.

I won't speculate on Market Specifications and their availability. With the G11/12, despite one on one conversations with the CEO's, and the 7 Series Product Managers, minor and significant changes to the program were made.

The G30 does not look like a 7er shrink or 4er enlarged as has been suggested. It's clearly a BMW but with some design elements and proportions that clearly differentiate it.

I have heard early 2017 for E43 in US. Have you heard different?

Some speculations while we are still waiting...

Car should be ~100kg lighter than current model. 540i model will feature 340ps engine. M Performance kit should raise the power output to ~380ps with better throttle response and power curve.
With this weight and power level, it will be very comparable to current 550i in performance, plus should be much more agile and better handling car due to huge weight difference (new 540i should be ~250kg lighter than the current 550i). That is just fantastic.

And for the end one beautiful and I think very realistic render, it will be amazing if the car looks like this in the end!
Can't wait for the official release!

The new Panamera is in a different league. My next car for sure. Just need to wait for my lease to end in about a year and half.

I agree that Panamera is a class for itself, but for me these two cars are still comparable and I am considering them both for my next car.

For sure, Panamera is more exclusive, bit sportier, and personally I'm amazed by its design. But I also have very high expectations for new M550i (rival to 4S) and I think that BMW also has many advantages comparing to Porsche.
Until now, BMW's infotainment system has been light years ahead of Porsche, now Porsche completely redesign it, added touch capability (I'm really not happy that they replaced all those nice physical buttons with touch buttons) and call it Porsche Advanced Cockpit... On the other hand, they still DO NOT HAVE HUD!!! (WTF!!!)

Comfort wise, BMW 5 should be more comfortable car with more interior space, slightly higher seating position, plus it is a 5 seater, I don't understand why Porsche does not offer a version with 5 seats.
At the end I am not even sure if I can fit in comfortably and enjoy long trips in panamera since I'am 6'7'', while in BMW 5 this no problem for sure.

Really no HUD??? had no idea. All your points are valid. Personally you can't go wrong with either car.

The new Panamera and 5er are not rivals.
You won't see a Panamera 20d as you will see a 520d. Panamera is a luxury Performance car. Whilst the 5er is an upper medium business Class executive sedan. Panamera is more a 6er Gran Coupe rival.

SCOTT26. Can you tell us if we will see official pics of the new G30 5er this week?
