My Forgestar F14s SDC journey

From my research I don't think anyone has ever shared their journey from beginning to end when buying their Forgestars so why not me do it. I have an 07 E90 335I and bought 19x9.5 fronts and 19x11 rears. Ordered on 04/25/2016 and should be done first or second week of June (fingers crossed). And if anyone is wondering - the total cost including tires, installation and fender rolling is about $3,000. Will update this thread as needed.

From someone that went down the Forgestar rat hole. Don't ever bend or crack a wheel.

I know, I did a little research on this forum about Forgestars cracking but I live in Florida where the roads are smooth so here is hoping I won't get any cracks or bents.

I live in Ca. where the roads are marginal at best in some cases.
I owned by F14s for a little over a year.
I bent/cracked one of my front wheels and cracked both rears.
Forgestar wouldn't help out at all.
They wanted me to pay full retail for replacements.

I replaced them with Apex wheels.
They stock the wheels I bought. They weigh a little more than the Forgestar wheels but are designed stronger outside and near the bead area. They are less likely to crack/bend and Apex will also discount a replacement.

The limitation is that you have to live with the color and offset.
Not a big deal for me. But is you want to run something crazy, you can't get Apex. The only reason I didn't buy Apex from day one, is that they didn't have a 19" wheels at the time.

Anyway, good luck and may you always have smooth roads..

Depending on how low you are (or how low you want to be), you may need to get other suspension components such as camber plates/arms, and toe arms.

SDC's are a mother to fit too. I spent atleast a month making adjustments to not rub. I ended up shaving down the front fender brackets to basically nothing and the rear ones too haha.

The car is on the OEM sports suspension but to be honest I already told my auto shop guy that he can do whatever is needed to fit this setup.

What tire sizes did you end up going with? I am really looking to get as much meat on the tires as possible.

you will not be able to run a meaty setup with SDC all around. you'll also probably have to be lowered and have camber plates.

Ive had my F14's for 2 years with BC coils 10k 16k springs and the shocks set almost as stiff as they go. My wheels take a beating daily driving on bad roads. I didnt have any bends or cracks when I got new tires a few months ago. With 9.5et22 in the front I had 245/35/19 -1.7 camber and the fenders flattened. Now I went down to 235 so I can take a little bit of camber out. In the back I have 11"et33 275/30/19 -2 camber and I use a 5mm spacer when I don't have any passengers in the back. My rear fenders were rolled and I shaved some of the fender by the rear bumper. Next set of tires I think I will do 225/35 and 265/30 to take some camber out.

I had a set of Avant Garde m310s when I had my stock suspension and after a few years I had some minor bends on the wheel lips and one wheel had a larger bend which caused a vibration. Not saying Forgestar makes the best wheels but they've held up for me and I got my wheels less than 3 weeks after I ordered.

I ran 235/35/19 up front and 265/30/19 in the rear. Ride quality was ehhh here in New England and I literally cringed every time I hit a bump in the road =(

Thank you, very detailed and informative. If memory doesn't fail me my offsets are identical to yours, et22 front et33 in the rear. With the negative camber, have you noticed your tires not lasting as long as before?

Oh wow, I just researched and saw your car on other threads. The Forgestars on your car looked awesome. I also saw your post about selling your Forgestars because you moved from CA to MA. What a bummer.

What you know, today it got moved to the next stage. Not really sure why these wheels take 2 months to be made but can't complain though because I knew that going in.

I just researched your car too and wow, those Forgestars on your car = amazing.

After all the informative input on this thread I am beginning to actually like the 235/265 look very much.

The front isn't really an issue. I had some camber wear but I got a good amount of mileage from the tires. Since I went down a tire size I don't need as much camber.

The rear tires seem like they wear out faster on the inside. I think my toe is off from hitting bumps and driving on bad roads for the last 2 years. When I get an alignment I will try -1.5 front and -1.7 rear. After my rear fenders were rolled I used a bandfile sander from harbor freight to taper down the fender where it meets the bumper. That is the area where I had the least clearance. If you go with a 265 it will be less work to make them fit.

So, the wheels have moved to the completed stage and are ready to ship. Pat @ Sonic Tuning has been very good at giving updates. There was one delay because one of the wheels wasn't right and had to be re-done. All in all it took about 10 weeks (which I am not complaining because I knew that time frame going in).

Now the question, I am really looking to fit as meatier tires as possible and in speaking with my shop guy he says that if I put on coilovers I would be able to. Did I understand him right? Not looking to spend a fortune on coilovers, would $700 buy me a good quality set of coilovers?

you have more space than I do (e92). im running 235/35 265/30. you should be able to size up very easily. 245 and 275. maybe a few e90 guys will chime in and give you more help.

Installation day. Since 275 rears and 245 fronts appear to fit just fine, going to try 285s and 255s.
