Do a google image search for 3-series pickup and you'll find plenty of examples. I would imagine as far as custom body projects go, it's on the "easier" end of the spectrum.
The real question is, will BMW ever make a pickup. The Mercedes one is happening soon, but it's not clear whether they will sell it in the US. Remember when the M division said they would never make a truck? Hello X5M/X6M. I would not be surprised to see a factory "M" badged BMW pickup in my lifetime.

It's like the German version of the Ute... v8 el camino-wanna-be looking thing.
I saw this surface on Yahoo as well last week... not sure why, as this "M3 Truck" has been around for a long, long time I believe. BMW made It to haul parts around and whatnot. If you think about it, it's really not that "hard" of a conversion. Its OK, kinda meh...
