No sticky for all DIY walkthroughs for the 335d?

I was curious as to why we don't have a one-stop location for all things DIY for our car (oil, fuel filter, UREA fill, etc)

Is there any reason in particular?

The mods hate us. We've asked many times for stickies and none have been provided.

Well, since I never heard back from the e90post admin (PM'd him twice) is it worth pooling everyone's experience / info into one thread to start tracking DIY items, particularly service items?

I don't think the demand was quite there before and most cars were under warranty... But now with BMW offering the 535d and continuing the x drive one I don't see why? :

I too requested from an Admin to create a sticky thread when this original post was made and have heard nothing back. Great support.

When I contacted an admin about becoming a supporting vendor, they were very quick to reply with the incredibly ridiculous price structure.

So how about we do this differently. We can create a wiki page with links dedicated to useful information threads here or elsewhere. Then we can post it like spam so everyone is aware of it and we can post a link in our signatures if we aren't getting the support of the forum administrators.

Seems a bit silly, but this entire website's purpose for most members is to share knowledge to make ownership for these vehicles more entertaining, cheaper, economical, etc., etc. If this forum isn't willing to support that, then maybe we find/create another.

Gentlemen, thanks for doing this. No doubt it will be a lot of work, but it will be greatly appreciated by many. Once you get it going, I'll volunteer some time to the effort.

progress?

ill start:

UREA save $475:
buy 1L AdBlue bottle @ VW $8
buy 2x 2.5 gal SuperTech DEF @ Walmart / $8 ea
pop port in rear bumper on left side
unscrew 2 caps, "needs" weird hex key - just wedge a file (3/4" or 1" i think?) in and turn
screw in bottle, press in to fill
once bottle empty, mark top side when screwed in, punch/burn a hole there
pour in walmart jugs thru hole in bottle to fill both tanks
close it up, done

oil, topside, save $200:
buy a handpump
buy a hex socket for 32mm OR 1 1/4"
buy filter & 8-9 bottles LL-04 diesel oil from BMW ($90-100)
idle cold engine for 1-2 minutes
pump out used oil thru dipstick
use socket on filter
replace oring on filter cap, rub some oil on it
replace filter
pour in 7.5-8 bottles, keep half a bottle or more in trunk. she'll ask for more sooner or later
google how to reset oil change interval with stalk hidden menu

I started my own sticky of sorts, happy to add to it if you guys want. Right now it's just a place for me to store info about things I've had to deal with.

IMO, Mik325tds did one of the nicest documentations of that process.
