M2 vs C7 Z06 (don't shoot me)

I know these are worlds apart and so different. It's just that I have an opportunity to purchase a 2015 C7 Z06 with low mileage from a friend for the same price as my on order M2.

I need a trackable daily car with a manual transmission and they both fit the profile in very different ways. I have an suv which can be used when I'm out with the family but for commuting to work and weekend action, both are very fun ... And very different.

Which would you choose? A brand new M2 from the dealership with warranty and all the bell and whistles. Or a z06 out of warranty as it was a imported from the USA with only a regional warranty. Almost twice as much Hp, more fun on the drag strip but not as practical as the M2.

Are you joking This is as apples to oranges as you can get IMO.

Having said that, if you don't need 4 seats and have the dollars to deal with out of warranty repairs, I would pick the C7 Z06 without any doubt. It is super car performance in all respects... put it up against virtually all cars in the $250K price range and it's right at home. It will simply embarrass the M2 in any and all performance measures and is one damn sexy car to see on the road.

The M2 is fun and sport and more practical with back seats. That's where the comparison ends.

I love the M2 and can't wait for mine. However, it's a compromise car... if I didn't care about needing a back seat with kids, I would be in a C7 of some sort... or a 911 something.

I know, more like apples to iPhones but I had to ask. I'm already set on the M2 but when the opportunity arose to own a super car for almost the same price, it threw me off and now I'm considering this.

This doesn't help me. I should have my M2 (LBB 6sp) in less than 2 weeks, but I have been agonizing about the same decision. I keep trying to fight it, as I have never been a vette guy, but that car is seriously kick ass for the money. At the last DE school I did the instructor had one. He was a professional driver and he said it was an incredible car. Ug.

A good friend of mine has a c7 z06, it's faster for about 2 laps, then it overheats, pulls power and looses about 150 hp. Consumables and tires a quite expensive.

Your call. I just saw your in Kuwait, no way I would touch a c7 zo6 there for track, it would be way too hot any time of year. Mine as well just get a grand sport if you want a c7.

The real question that needs to be asked is have you ever owned a ridiculous car before?
If not, then buy the c7 and enjoy a few years of owning a truly incredible performace machine. Its mandatory that any car lover should own a silly car at least once.
If you have owned something over the top before, then buy the m2 and enjoy knowing you made the smart choice.
Good problem to have

A C7 Z06 down 150hp will still utterly demolish the M2.

Carrera 4s '96, Dodge Viper GTS '96 (the silly one), Jaguar XKR .... 10 years of SUV's ... BMW m5 f10, Toyota 86, Subaro STI, C7 stingray for a couple of months absolutely loved it but missed a stick shift, seems like next will be an M2.

I think there are some serious upgrades (transmission and diff coolers ) that are needed to make many vettes a track star. Make sure you vet () the car properly and make sure the one you are looking at has them.

With the M2 you will need better brake pads. That's it. That's the list.

So you need a ride with this guy then to make a fair decision ...

they dont overheat unless racing so this overheating stuff is kind of BS unless your seriously tracking it. mine has never come close. that being said I prefer my m235i over it in most ways. just way easier to drive even though both have 8speeds the m235i feels like a DC trans to me. amazingly quick
